On Saturday, the Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said he is hopeful for a state to come about in the upcoming year, after the completion of Israel?s Gaza withdrawal. He emphasized that the next step is to build up the economy in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

When asked about how the PA intended to deal with Hamas, Abbas said, "We have our ways of talking to them."
