On a trip to visit students in Gaza, PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas reminded students of the martyrs and homicide bombers who "brought about the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza", saying that they would "receive their reward in the Garden of Eden."

He also mentioned the possibility of Hamas being absorbed into the Palestinian Authority.

The possibility of a coalition between the Hamas and Fatah brings the question of U.S. financial aid of the PA into question, given the U.S.-sanctioned inclusion of Hamas on its list of terrorist groups.
