Late Monday night, an explosion ripped through Gaza City, killing four and injuring over 30, and destroying a building and at least 10 homes in Shajaiya, a neighborhood known for its active Hamas population.

Despite initial Palestinian reports suggesting the explosion was perpetrated by Israel, the Palestinian Authority has finally resolved that it was in fact due to an error in the production of Hamas explosives.

Hamas is nevertheless continuing blame the IDF for the explosion, saying an Israeli helicopter fired a missile at a home known for being associated with the terrorist association. An IDF spokeswoman said the army had nothing to do with the blast, noting that Israel has stopped assassinating terrorists in the Hamas faction since the ceasefire was declared last February.
