Sharon flew home from the UN General Assembly Monday, elated by recent polls showing he is now taking back the lead Netanyahu had grasped when he first announced his candidacy. According to a poll commissioned by Yediot Ahronot, surveying 349 Likud members, Sharon is taking a 39 percent majority to Netanyahu's 28%, with Uzi Landau gathering gathered 16%. Seventeen percent of voters were undecided.
Sharon didn't fare as well in a poll by Ma'ariv, which showed that 48% of voters were in favor of ousting Sharon as party chief, whereas 42% were not.
