On Monday, Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom is scheduled to meet his Tunisian counterpart to discuss the prospect of establishing full diplomatic relations between the two countries, Haaretz reported. Although Tunisia -- along with Egypt, Morocco, and Oman -- withdrew diplomatic representation in Israel to protest the second intifada, relations between Israel and Arab countries have begun to warm up since the disengagement from Gaza.
In related news, Bahrain announced Sunday that it will lift sanctions placed on Israel in the 1960s. Bahrain's finance minister wrote a letter acknowledging the "need to lift the boycott on Israel".
