On Sunday, the Richard Jones landed in Israel to take the place of ambassador Daniel Kurtzer, officially ending his four years as the American ambassador to Israel.
Jones speaks Arabic fluently, and has served as ambassador to Kuwait, among other countries, but does not speak Hebrew, though he vowed to learn it. It's his fourth time serving as ambassador in the Middle East, and he said, "I am not familiar with Israel, but I plan to study the country as soon as possible."
Jones said his dream was to see peace in the region during his term as ambassador.
