Katrina evacuees identify with wandering Israelites as Rita approaches

Over 1,000 Katrina evacuees are in Houston shelters right now, trying to figure out where they can go now that Hurricane Rita is expected to hit Louisiana and Texas hard. Houston officials said moving the people is necessary because the shelters may not hold up in a harsh storm. Planes may take them to Arkansas, Tennessee, or perhaps -- depending on the storm path, Louisiana. All the moving around makes some think of Jewish wandering, "This reminds me of the Israelites marching in the desert," Norman Bethancourt, 51, said Tuesday as he waited for a bus.
