Supreme Court partially recognizes non-Orthodox conversions performed in Israel |

In an interview released on Thursday by Haaretz, the President of Bar-Ilan University, Moshe Kaveh, took a stand against "radical rabbis" who said their prayers would affect the fate of the disengagement and it would not come to happen. He said, "Religion should denounce rabbis who gave rise to a delusional vision, false messianism and statements such as, 'I'm praying that the disengagement will not take place and therefore it won't.'" He did not name names, but made the statement that rabbis have no place influencing politics and the public, saying the rabbis who made such statements faced a "knockout" when the disengagement plan went through.
