During a Channel 2 interview, Binyamin Netanyahu said that he had predicted the current violence in Gaza that has become, he said, an "Islamic terror base," including children were killed and rockets were fired on Israeli towns. Netanyahu dodged questions of whether he will stand to gain politically from the scenario that has occurred a month after the evacuation from Gaza, but he did blast political opponent and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon: "I told the government, don?t give away the Philadelphi route and they told me I was fear-mongering. The fact is, the price of a Kalashnikov dropped because of the inflow of weapons." He also jabbed Sharon for going "so far to the left, today you must ask whether we?re Likud or (left-wing party) Meretz,? he said. ?What?s happening in Gaza now improves security? I would have left differently, not by escaping."
