Syria's President tells Palestinian terror groups to fire on Israel

In a recent report on Palestinian radio, Syrian President Bashar Assad met with top Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials and gave them a green light to continue assaulting Israel with attacks in order to "draw fire away" from Syria. Assad also told those present that he supported Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas, but didn't agree with his support for negotiation talks with Israel. According to Palestinian sources, Jpost reported the information was passed onto Egypt, to which Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said that Assad should not interfere with Palestinian issues.
