When delivering a lecture on "France and the Middle East," Tuesday at Bar-Ilan University, the French Ambassador to Israel Gerard Araud called efforts to place Hizbollah, the Lebanon based terror group, on the EU terror list, "feel-good diplomacy." Araud added that it "wouldn't make the slightest difference," calling to reference Israel's refusal by the EU to send "peace-keeping troops" to Gaza. He said that there would be no consequence to putting Hizbollah on the terror list and would only give the organization an excuse to rally the Arab world and moan the whole world is against them, and "France doesn't want to give them that pleasure." Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev countered that placing the terror group on the EU list would limit "that organization's ability to organize itself in Europe," noting that Hamas' capacity to raise funds and function in Europe has hampered since being placed on the list.
