Israel has suspended its offensive into the Gaza Strip following a lull in rocket attacks by Palestinian terrorists, but is ready to resume the operation of the rocket fire resumes, security officials said Sunday.

Officials said the weeklong offensive was gradually halted over the weekend. The officials said the operation, which included a series of air strikes on weapons factories, storage facilities and launching areas, achieved its goal.

The terrorist groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad announced an end to their rocket attacks last week.
