Ahead of Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas' trip to the United States, Israel has made several "goodwill gestures," such as supplying military equipment and dismantling roadblocks, the latter allowing passage for Palestinian workers and merchants to pass into Israel, Haaretz reported. Mofaz is expected to recommend to PM Ariel Sharon the passage of security equipment to the Palestinians during the Sunday Knesset meeting, but has taken a firm stance against handing over more Judean and Samarian town to the PA's control.
