The Pakistani Daily Times newspaper reported Afghani officials saying "Afghanistan will announce it is officially recognizing Israel in the next few days." The report, on Saturday, would mark the first time the Muslim state would recognize the Jewish state of Israel, and seems Pakistan is to follow suit. Israeli officials confirmed the report to Ynet on Sunday saying "If there ever was a suitable time for this in terms of the public opinion's readiness in the Arab and Muslim world, it is clear that now is the best time," said one official to Ynet.
