Muhammed Salah, who was arrested in 1993 charged with taking part in a 15-year conspiracy with Hamas, said Monday in an affidavit that he was tortured by Israel to give the confession. Salah was charged with using US bank accounts to launder money used for murders, kidnappings, and passport fraud among other charges. Salah, who was born in Jerusalem and lived in a Palestinian refugee camp until 1970 when he moved to the States, is a naturalized US citizen. He said that Israel placed him in a closest sized room and threatened his family, which prompted a lengthy handwritten confession.
