The elevator service at the IDF army headquarters in Tel Aviv is going to be cut off in an effort to fight the high potbelly rate of many soldiers, reported Ynet. Military fitness officials have said that the belly status on the base is cause for concern, and during the annual IDF "fitness week," elevator service will be halted up to the fourth floor, forcing soldiers to take the stairs. The man behind the exercise, Lt. Col. Avi Benita, commented, "Sometimes I see phenomena at the Kirya (army headquarters) that drives me crazy. Officers take the elevator down to the parking garage, where the driver is waiting in the car and drives them to a nearby building."
