An Israeli foreign ministry official has reported that the conversion and Aliyah of about 7000 Indian citizens has been abruptly halted. The move follows an Indian ambassador's statement that the Indian government will not tolerate proselytizing. Israeli diplomats have reported a recent cooling of political ties between the two countries, with India lowering the profile of its ties with Israel.
