Approximately three weeks after the Jewish National Fund sent a letter to its British branch severing all ties, tables were turned and the clash escalated Friday when the JNF-UK turned to England's High Court of Justice. JNF-UK is asking the court to bar the JNF from using the name Jewish National Fund or the acronym. JNF-UK now claims that the British charity is harmed by the JNF's use of the name. The injunction was issued to the JNF in Jerusalem and the clash escalated dramatically. According to the JNF's world chairman, JNF-UK has been funding projects in Israel that are unrelated to the JNF's mandate and has gravely jeopardized potential donations.
At stake are millions of pounds in donations and crucial relations between Israel and the UK Diaspora community.
