U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice delayed her departure from Israel on Monday, as Israeli and Palestinian negotiators made another effort to reach agreement on Gaza border crossings.

The negotiators met for unscheduled talks in Israel on Monday afternoon, after Rice held separate talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. At a press conference Monday, Rice said agreement on the crossing was "in sight," but that some technical issues still needed to be resolved.

The AP contributed to this report.
