More than 400 police officials from around the northeastern United States turned out Tuesday for a two-day briefing with some of Israel's leading security experts on terrorism prevention and response.
Held under tight security at a hotel in suburban New York City, the conference offered topics including dealing with the terrorist threat at malls and other potential targets, suicide bombers and counterterrorism measures.
The conference is the sixth in series of meetings sponsored by the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, a Washington-based non-profit organization involved in security issues for both the United States and Israel.
Security for the event was so tight that police officers were posted at the entrances to the hotel's parking lot.
