An Israeli civilian flying a hang glider inadvertently landed in Lebanon on Wednesday and was rescued under fire by Israeli troops, security officials said.

Israeli troops exchanged fire with Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas as they retrieved the Israeli man, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they are not authoritzed to discuss the issue.

The Israeli landed a few dozen meters inside Lebanon. During the gun battle, Israeli troops opened the Fatma Gate in the border fence, enabling the man to walk back into Israel. The official said troops did not enter Lebanon.
