Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Thursday that Israel is making preparations for the possibility Iran will acquire nuclear weapons, but won't lead the fight against the Islamic state's nuclear ambitions.

"We're making all preparations for such a situation," Sharon told a meeting of Israeli news editors. "Israel is not in the vanguard of this."
