Palestinians fire rockets, mortar shell, toward Israel
By: Associated Press

Palestinians fired three rockets and one mortar shell from the Gaza Strip toward Israel overnight, Israeli radios reported Thursday.

The army spokesman confirmed that one rocket fell near the Erez crossing between Israel and Gaza, but could not yet confirm any other projectiles falling. In response to the attack on Erez, the army struck roads in the Gaza Strip that are used to access areas from which rockets are launched, the army said.

Palestinians said seven tank shells were fired in the area. No injuries were reported on either side.

Israel has pledged to increase retaliation for rocket attacks, which have increased in recent days.
