Israeli police have detained a British citizen who entered the country on a fake passport and threatened to disrupt the flight on which he was to be deported, police said Monday.
The man, Andrew McDonald, was first deported from Israel earlier this year after protesting with Palestinians against the construction of Israel's separation barrier in Judea and Samaria, police said. According to the allegations, McDonald slept in the home of a Palestinian terrorist during the activity.
In August this year, McDonald entered Israel again using a fake passport. In November McDonald was arrested in the Judean and Samarian city of Hevron for attacking an Israeli soldier. Police then discovered McDonald's true identity and prepared to deport him again.
When McDonald alighted the airplane to return to Britain on November 30, he threatened the pilot that he would disrupt the flight by going into a rage if it took off. Israeli police arrested McDonald again, removing him from the plane, and he has been held by immigration police since then.
The British embassy did not immediately return a call requesting comment.
