U.S. President George W. Bush told Israeli Prime Minister to eat less, work less and exercise more in a Tuesday phone call after Sharon's release from the hospital after treatment for a stroke, according to a government statement.
Sharon suffered a mild stroke on Sunday. Bush called to wish him well, and advised him, "be careful about food, start exercising and cut back on work hours," the statement said. Sharon, 77, suffers from obesity.
In the past, when Sharon gave details of his long work day, Bush said he got tired just listening, the statement said. In the phone call, Bush said, "Be careful, my friend."
Sharon has been a frequent visitor to the White House since Bush took office. The two are considered friends as well as allies.
The statement quoted Bush as saying that if they are to be partners in the struggle against terrorism, Sharon has to stay out of the hospital.
Sharon told Bush he would rest at his Jerusalem residence for a few days and get back to work as soon as possible.
Also Tuesday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak called Sharon and advised him to rest, take care of his health and cut back on his work load, another statement from Sharon's office said. |
