Israeli officials rushed a rescue team to Kenya in order to offer emergency assistance after a building in Nairobi collapsed on Monday.
The team, which will includes highly trained members of the IDF's Home Front Command, will be departed to Kenya following a request relayed to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni by Kenya's vice president. The team will assist in rescuing those trapped under the rubble.
The search and rescue team includes doctors and 80 professional searchers along with humanitarian and rescue supplies, an Israeli statement said.
Kenyan rescuers and soldiers cut through layers of concrete slab early Tuesday to free an unknown number of construction workers still trapped after a building collapsed in downtown Nairobi, killing at least 11 and injuring dozens.
