A rocket fired by Palestinian militants from Gaza hit an Israeli town late Tuesday, causing some damage, the military said.

The rocket hit a street in Sderot, less than two kilometers (a mile) from the Gaza fence, and damaged some cars. An Israeli was slightly injured when he touched a piece of the rocket just after it exploded, the military said.

Army Radio reported that Palestinians fired seven rockets from Gaza on Tuesday. None of the others caused damage.

Earlier Tuesday, Israeli forces in the West Bank killed two Islamic Jihad militants, including a leader of the violent group, in a shootout. Islamic Jihad pledged revenge, including rocket attacks on Israel.
