Israeli forces fired a missile at a car in the northern Gaza Strip after nightfall Monday, witnesses said, killing two Palestinian terrorists.
Paramedics and witnesses said the missile destroyed the car and incinerated the two men inside.
They were identified as of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a violent offshoot of Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement. One was Hassan Asfour, described as a senior commander, and Rami Hanouna. Al Aqsa militants often take responsibility for rocket attacks from Gaza at Israel.
Three bystanders were injured in the blast, paramedics said. The targeted vehicle was a yellow minibus traveling on a farm road. The area is often used for firing rockets.
Outside the morgue where the charred bodies were taken, an Al Aqsa spokesman who called himself Abu Mohammed threatened revenge against Israel. "The Zionists have opened the gates of hell, and this gate cannot be closed until we uproot them from our land," he said.
The Israeli military confirmed that it carried out an airstrike in northern Gaza.
Israel has stepped up its airstrikes in recent days, killing five other terrorists, after repeated rocket attacks at Israeli towns from Gaza.
