Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian terrorist on Wednesday during an arrest raid in a Samarian village, the military and Palestinian witnesses said.
While arresting an Islamic Jihad fugitive, who was later taken into custody, troops came under fire from militants in the village of Amoun, west of the town of Jenin, the army said. The soldiers fired back, hitting at least one militant armed with a rifle, the army added.
Palestinians identified the militant as a 21-year-old from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, an terrorist group linked to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party.
