Israeli troops late Monday arrested a Palestinian terrorist wanted for involvement in the killing of six Israeli troops, the army said.
Nasser Abayat of Tanzim was arrested with two other members of the group in the town of Halhoul, south of Jerusalem, the army spokesman said.
Abayat is the top wanted man in Tanzim, which is affiliated with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, for his involvement in shooting attacks that killed five soldiers and one Israeli policeman, the army said.
Relatives of one of the men detained confirmed the arrests and said there was no violence during the capture.
Israel frequently raids Palestinian-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria to arrest wanted terrorists.
