Shahar Peer of Israel won her second career WTA Tour title in beating Samantha Stosur of Australia 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the Prague Open final on Sunday.

Peer, seeded third and ranked 35th, earned her first singles championship in February at Pattaya City, Thailand.

"It is my second final and second title, it was a great week and I'm happy for that," Peer said.

This week, however, marked the first time the 19-year-old passed the quarterfinals in a claycourt event.

Peer also swept the doubles in Prague, combining with France's Marion Bartoli to beat American pair Ashley Harkleroad and Bathanie Mattek 6-4, 6-4.

After fifth-seeded Stosur won the first set, Peer broke the Australian twice in each of the last two sets.

"I started really well in the first set but she definitely picked up her game, made me run, played to my backhand and started to be very aggressive," Stosur said.

It was the third career singles final for Stosur, who has yet to win one. She was the world's top-ranked doubles player.
