The Israeli Foreign Ministry will remove pictures of diplomats from its Web site after al-Qaida threatened to kill three of them, the Yediot Ahronot newspaper reported Wednesday.
Al-Qaida put pictures of three Israeli diplomats alongside those of other foreign emissaries on a Web site under the headline "Our Enemy," Yediot reported.
The names of the Israelis were written under their pictures, the daily said. The Web site called for attacks on the diplomats.
A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry would not comment on the Yediot report.
Israeli security officials have said they believe al-Qaida is trying to infiltrate the Palestinian areas and indicted two Palestinians last month for allegedly working with the group.
A group that Egyptian authorities believe was inspired by al-Qaida carried out three bombings on April 24 in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula in which 21 people were killed. The area is frequented by Israelis. |
