Israeli soldiers, acting on intelligence reports, foiled a Palestinian suicide bombing in Israel on Monday, the military said.
According to the military's report, security forces received information that militants from the West Bank city of Nablus were planning an attack. Around 6 a.m., two Palestinians arrived at a temporary military checkpoint near Nablus, and when soldiers tried to carry out a routine search, the militants fled.
During the pursuit, they threw away a bag that contained explosives. The militants were apprehended and taken into custody, and sappers blew up the bomb.
The military would not say where the Palestinians planned to carry out the attack or how big the explosive device was. |
