An Israeli airstrike destroyed a Palestinian car in Gaza City on Sunday, but the occupant of the vehicle escaped ahead of the attack, Palestinian officials and witnesses said.
The airstrike ripped one car into two pieces, while a nearby vehicle was overturned from the force of the blast. The Hamas militant group said a Hamas member was in the car and managed to escape.
Palestinian hospital officials said one bystander was lightly wounded by shrapnel.
The Israeli army said the airstrike had targeted a car carrying militants who were on their way to carrying out a rocket attack. Earlier Sunday, two Palestinian militants were killed in an airstrike. |
