A paratrooper was killed Monday in a battle with soldiers and Hezbollah fighters in Bint Jbeil in the western sector of south Lebanon. Four other soldiers were wounded in firefights. At least five terrorists were killed.

A paratrooper unit was operating in town against terrorists trying to uncover weapon caches. It came under fire from Hezbollah gunmen. The wounded were evacuated to a hospital in Israel under heavy fire.

In addition, an IDF officer and two soldiers were injured early Monday morning during exchanges of fire with Hezbollah in the village of Houla in the southeastern sector. The IDF force killed four terrorists hiding in a house used as a weapons depot.

Engineering Corps and infantry units blew up Hezbollah headquarters in southwestern Lebanon. Troops uncovered caches of rockets and antitank missiles in the place.
