Israeli troops on Wednesday killed five Palestinian militants in fighting in Gaza City, Palestinian doctors said.
The Israeli army said troops operating in Gaza City's Shijaiyeh neighborhood fired at two militants who had fired an anti-tank missile toward the soldiers.
The five were killed in Israeli airstrikes and exchanges of fire in Gaza City's Shijaiyeh neighborhood, Palestinian doctors and witnesses said. Five people were wounded, they said.
Also Wednesday, a Palestinian teenager injured in fighting in Shijaiyeh Tuesday died of his wounds, the doctors said.
The troops have been operating in the neighborhood since Saturday as part of an Israeli offensive launched in late June, after Hamas-allied militants killed two Israeli soldiers and captured a third in an attack on an army post. |
