Israeli aircraft fired missiles at two cars in the northern Gaza Strip after sundown Tuesday, witnesses and Palestinian officials said, wounding five people.
The Israeli military confirmed it targeted a car with Islamic Jihad militants involved in rocket attacks at the nearby Israeli town of Sderot.
Palestinian security said the airstrike was in the town of Beit Hanoun, near the border with Israel. One of the cars was carrying militants from the Islamic Jihad and the other, Fatah gunmen, they said. No one was killed.
Israeli aircraft frequently target suspected Gaza militants in airstrikes, part of a campaign against militants firing rockets from northern Gaza at Israel. |
