Two Palestinians, an Islamic Jihad gunman and an additional gunman whose affiliation is not yet know, were killed and at least two others were injured during an army operation in the town of Kabatiya, near Jenin. Sources in the town said that the operative killed was 19-year-old Omar al-Sakhou. None of the troops were injured.
According to the Palestinians, some 20 IDF jeeps and vehicles raided the town early Tuesday morning in a bid to arrest wanted suspects. When the forces entered the town, Palestinian gunmen opened fire at the soldiers. The troops responded with gunfire, wounding several of the gunmen.
The Palestinians reported that soldiers conducted searches in several houses, and that at least one activist was detained. They said that the troops also took over some of the houses' rooftops, and added that it was a continuing operation.
Earlier, Palestinian gunmen opened fire and tossed roadside bombs at an IDF force operating south of Jenin. None of the soldiers were hurt. The force identified two gunmen and returned fire.
In a separate incident, Palestinians in Qalandiya, south of Jerusalem, threw Molotov cocktails at an IDF force. There were no injuries. An IDF force in the Balata refugee camp identified an armed man and shot at him.
Over the night, IDF forces arrested seven wanted Palestinians throughout Judea and Samaria. In the al-Omri refugee camp in Ramallah, a female Hamas activist was arrested. In Zaatara, east of Bethlehem, a wanted man was arrested.
In Khoursa, southwest of Hebron, two wanted Islamic Jihad members were arrested. In Doura, west of Hebron, an Islamic Jihad member was arrested and in Hebron, two wanted men were arrested, one from Hamas. The arrested Palestinians were transferred to the security forces for investigation.
