Netanyahu in a dreamy mood on the Bill Maher show
Former Israeli prime minister and current leader of the Likud opposition party Benjamin Netanyahu made a barnstorming tour of conservative American media. His primary theme, presented most rhetorically in his address to the General Assembly of the United Jewish Communities in Los Angeles last week, emphasized that history was repeating itself. "It's 1938 and Iran is Germany. And it's racing to arm itself with atomic bombs."
The manner of his delivery was sometimes a bit strained. In his speech, he described the origin of this "epiphany" as being the demand of a father in a restaurant -- "A man walks up to our table..." -- to come up with a "one-word sentence" that his son could tell his social studies class. "That's what he said," Bibi assures.
The rhetoric was a bit strained, and Bibi handled it a bit more smoothly in the more familiar settings of dialogues with sympathetic interviewers. Take a gander.
Here's Netanyahu with Alan Colmes on Fox:
Glen Beck...
and, for a little pre-apocalyptic comic relief, Bill Maher:
