"Extremist" Jewish settlers ordered away from outposts

The Israeli army has authorized restraining orders against 12 Jewish settlers to keep them away from West Bank settler outposts that are slated to be evacuated in accordance with a U.S.-backed plan, Israel's Channel 2 TV reported Saturday.
The report said the orders would be issued over the coming days.
Israel has committed to remove about two dozen outposts set up without government approval on lands Palestinians want for a future state. The Defense Ministry has reportedly signed orders to evacuate 12 of the outposts.
Dismantling the outposts is a key requirement in the internationally backed "road map" plan, which envisions an independent Palestinian state in areas occupied by Israel.
Israeli security and settlers have clashed during past evacuations of outposts. The Defense Ministry issued the restraining orders to 12 extremist settlers in an effort to prevent violence in evacuations that are expected to begin this week, the TV said. The first orders were to be distributed late Saturday, the report said.
A call requesting comment from Israel's Defense Ministry was not immediately returned. Israeli media have reported in recent days that the evacuation of several outposts is expected soon.
