IDF finds bag belonging to kidnappers on Lebanese border

Six months following the kidnapping of Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, an IDF force operating at the Lebanese border Wednesday night found a bag believed to have belonged to the kidnappers.

The bag contained several weapons, shoes, and other equipment.

The operation was being carried out along the border as part of the war's lessons, in order to scan the area for unusual findings in the area where the kidnapping occurred.

Goldwasser's mother Micky and Eldad's brother first heard the news during their participation in a live Ynet forum.

Eldad's brother responded to forum participators and said, "Unfortunately, this area was poorly guarded and the possibility of committing a kidnapping was very easy.

"It's all a result of a government policy to keep the peace on the border. Unfortunately, we paid a heavy price for that policy. We are now focusing on the future and the goal of bringing the soldiers home," he continued.

The IDF will investigate the equipment found and try to use it to shed light on new details of the difficult incident in which three other soldiers were killed.

Preliminary findings only reinforced the assessment that the kidnappers used quality equipment and thoroughly prepared for the kidnapping. Thursday morning's scan of the area will continue at different points along the border.
