Lebanese defense officials are directly aiding Hizbullah in its efforts to rearm following last summer's war with Israel, charged Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt on Saturday.
Jumblatt, an influential member of parliament, said that government security agents are allowing large trucks to pass through the Syrian-Lebanese border unchecked.
He believes they contain weapons bound for the terror group, which would be a gross violation of the UN-imposed ceasefire that ended the Second Lebanon War.
UN Security Council Resolution 1701 stipulated that Lebanon stem the flow of arms to Hizbullah, and that it comply with previous resolutions demanding the disarming of the organization.
Jumblatt wants the government to order Lebanon's army to raid Hizbullah training camps in order to bring the nation into compliance with international demands.
But both the government and the army in Lebanon continue to maintain that there will be no violent confrontation with Hizbullah. Nor will they admit that smuggled weapons are still reaching the group.
Last week, visiting UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon presented Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora with evidence provided by Israel that arms shipments are finding their way to Hizbullah.
Siniora's government responded by slamming Israel for watching from the air what takes place along the border.
