An Israeli was moderately wounded on Sunday after Palestinian terrorists in north Gaza launched an upgraded "Quds" rocket toward the western Negev. Several other people suffered shock.
The victim suffered shrapnel wounds was treated by emergency medical teams at the scene then transferred to Ashkelon's Barzilai Hospital. The rocket landed near a gas station. The injured man worked in the adjacent car wash.
The al-Quds Brigades, Islamic Jihad's armed wing, claimed called the launch "a response to the Israeli crimes and the targeted killing of Palestinian activists in the West Bank."
She'ar Hanegev Regional Council head Alon Shuster, whose offices are just a few dozen meters from the site of the attack, described the incident to ynet. "We heard the whistle then the massive blast. I hurried out and I saw teams treating the injured man and the shock victims. We were so lucky, because if the rocket had hit just a few meters away, inside the gas station, there could have been a massive disaster here."
Earlier Sunday four rockets landed in open areas in the western Negev, causing no damages or injuries. Two landed near Sderot and two landed near the border with south Gaza.
Earlier in the day, rockets fired from Gaza landed in open areas in western Negev, without causing injuries or damage. Five Qassams were fired at Israel over the weekend, one hitting a house in Sderot on Saturday, causing extensive damage. The family was away at the time.
