The Israeli Air Force continued targeting Qassam launchers and terror infrastructure in northern Gaza overnight Saturday, as Palestinians continue firing rockets into Israel. Four Israelis were lightly injured when a Qassam directly hit a house in Sderot Friday. Another Qassam fell harmlessly Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon the IAF let loose coordinate strikes, hitting five Hamas facilities, killing four members of the terror group's "executive force." Palestinian sources reported 20 to 30 wounded in the strikes.
The Air Force Friday evening killed two Hamas operatives in Gaza City involved in rocket attacks. Army sources said that the car attacked belonged to a cell which has been involved in Qassam attacks in the past, and was apparently on its way to launch rockets at Israel. The force of the blast indicated that there were explosive in the vehicle, the IDF said.
There were, according to Palestinian sources, a series of six airstrikes in northern Gaza after midnight, which wounded at least two people. The IDF confirmed two strikes, against structures in the Jabaliya refugee camp serving Hamas.
Air force jets also hit a guard post opposite the home of Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in the Shati refugee camp, Palestinian security officials said. The army confirmed the attacks but said that Haniyeh himself was not a target. No one was injured in the strikes, which left two large craters, shattered surrounding windows and cut electricity in the camp. It appeared that the IAF action was intended as a warning to the Palestinian Prime Minister. Earlier in the week, the Air Force had hit another structure in the neighborhood. |
