An Israeli defense official confirmed on Tuesday that Hezbollah has restored its military capability and renewed its arsenal since the end of the Second Lebanon War, the Jerusalem Post reported. The official alleged that Syria was smuggling arms to Hezbollah with the full knowledge of the Lebanese army, hiding the illegal transactions from UNIFIL.

Hizbullah Chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah on Monday refused to say whether reservists Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, kidnapped by Hezbollah terrorists, were alive.

"For every utterance such as this we can receive human compensation, and therefore there is no reason that we would give information for free," Nasrallah said, claiming that he was the sole official authorized to give details on the matter.

Hezbollah's foothold in Judae and Samaria, however, has gotten significantly weaker, according to statements on Monday by Palestinian security officials. Among other reasons, Israel has been successful in killing and arresting many Hezbollah-affiliated terrorist cells, mainly in Nablus and the northern West Bank.

Additionaly, the Palestinian Authority has also attempted to convince many of Palestinian militants not to accept funding from foreign sources.

In related news, officials announced on Tuesday that the Shin Bet arrested an Israeli-Arab suspected to be a Hezbollah agent. She alleged joined their ranks in 2003.
