One of the terrorists who killed two Israeli soldiers Ahikam Amihai and Yehuda Rubin Friday near Hebron is a policeman in the Palestinian National Security Force. Another is affiliated with the Palestinian Intelligence Service, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) revealed Tuesday night. Both are members of Mahmoud Abbas' Palestinian Authority security apparatus and members of his Fatah organization.
The gunmen, Ali Dandis, 24, and Amar Taha, 26, surrendered on the day of the attack to Palestinian security forces in Hebron out of fear that they would be caught by the IDF. They also handed over their weapons and the weapons they stole from the murdered Israelis. They have since been in "protective custody" so that Israeli forces will not seize them.
The previous terrorist murder, the drive-by shooting of Israeli father of two Ido Zoldan in Samaria on the eve of the Annapolis meeting -- was also carried out by members of PA security forces, although that fact was also suppressed for days so as not to spoil the splendid atmosphere of Annapolis.
The PA did not report the surrender of the terrorists, the Shin Bet said. Palestinian Prime Minister Fayad implied that they had been captured by PA security forces. In fact they were members of those forces. Only after a formal Israeli demand did the PA admit to the surrender and agree to transfer to Israeli forces the murder weapons and the weapons of those who were murdered. The weapons were transferred to Israel on Saturday.
Security officials said the attack was premeditated with the objective of killing the hikers and stealing their weapons. Security officials said that declarations in the media by Palestinian officials suggesting that the incident was criminal in nature was directly contradicted by the physical evidence on the scene, as well as to the confessions of the terrorists themselves.
The declarations, they said, were probably intended by the PA to muddy responsibility for the terror attack carried out by the forces being trained and armed by the United States, and backed by the government and Fatah terror group with which the government of Israel insists on doing business. Bottom line: senior officials in the PA were complicit in the coverup of the identity and circumstances in which the killers turned themselves in, and in spreading disinformation to cover their PA and Fatah connections.
