An Israeli, Asher Weissgan of Shvut Rachel, killed four Palestinians and wounded another in a shooting attack near Shilo in Samaria.
The shooter was a driver who transported Palestinians to and from work in the industrial area. He reportedly had lunch with his victims. After picking up the passengers, he stopped the vehicle at a security station, took the weapon from the security guard there, and opened fire on the passengers and passersby.
He shot them, according to media reports, "to stop the expulsion of Jews." He then returned by foot to the industrial area and shot another Arab worker in the factory.
There are three dead and two injured, one seriously, taken to a Jerusalem hospital by Shilo's ambulance.
Police, army and local community security forces are concerned about possible Arab reprisals. Precautions are being taken to safeguard the residents of nearby Jewish communities.
Palestinian minister Saeb Erekat condemned the attack. The Palestinian Authority demanded Israel take away the weapons of residents of Judea and Samaria. "We condemn the terrorist settler attack in the West Bank and we demand that Israel disarm the settlers and bring those who carried out the attack to justice."
The Hamas terror organization vowed to take revenge.
