Militant killed, three people wounded in Israeli air strike in Gaza
By Associated Press  June 6, 2006

Israeli aircraft fired missiles at a car Monday in the Jebaliya refugee camp next to Gaza city, Palestinian security officials said. Hospital officials said one militant was killed and three people wounded.

The dead man was identified as Eiman Assiylia, 26, of the Popular Resistance Committees, made up of renegades from other violent groups. A passenger in the car and two bystanders were wounded, officials said.

Palestinian police said three missiles were fired.

The Israeli military confirmed its aircraft targeted a car in Gaza. Israel often sends aircraft into Gaza in attempts to kill militants. Israel has been trying to stop daily barrages of homemade rockets fired from northern Gaza.

Earlier Monday, a bomb went off in the camp, killing a Hamas activist. The Israelis denied involvement. Gaza has been wracked by clashes between rival forces loyal to the Hamas-led government and Fatah, which is headed by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
