A top Israeli general warned residents of south Lebanon on Sunday to evacuate the area in the coming hours ahead of an imminent Israeli attack.
The warning came after Hezbollah guerillas based in south Lebanon launched a barrage of rockets and missiles into the Israeli city of Haifa, killing eight people.
"We want to say to the population in the south of Lebanon, we want to avoid innocent victims, so we recommend them to leave their villages and homes and go to the north of the country and let us work in the south of Lebanon, because in two or three hours we are going to attack the south of Lebanon heavily," Maj. Gen. Udi Adam, the head of Israel's northern command, told AP Television News.
