So, What Do We Do Now?
By Shmuel Sackett   September 1, 2005

The evil decree has been fulfilled. The unspeakable has happened. Like most of you, I have cried more these past two weeks than the last ten years combined.

The question being asked by hundreds of thousands across the globe is; "What do we do now?" We understand that even though we are filled with pain, anguish, frustration and bitterness, we must go on. We must continue... but Where? What? and How?

First of all, we must not allow ourselves to get depressed. Feelings such as pain and anguish can be overcome ("No Pain, No Gain") and used as positive motivation. Frustration and bitterness can be channeled and used to help focus on the real battle that lies ahead. But depression? Depression is Jewish Enemy #1 and must be avoided.

Depression keeps you in bed all day, makes you apathetic and saps your strength. This is antithesis of what we need! Now, more than ever, the Jewish world needs everyone reading this article to be wide awake, replete with care and love, so full of energy and courage that people may actually have to tell you to slow down.

Want to know where to put all that energy? Want to focus it in the right place so every drop is being used wisely? Here's what you have to do: Realize where the fight is... and where it's not. Figure out where the power comes from... and where it doesn't. And finally, fix the problem once-and-for-all instead of just plugging holes all day long.

Allow me to explain.

The unfortunate "success" of the Gaza Expulsion Plan taught me three key things.

Drastic and radical changes can be made in Israel if you control the reigns of leadership.

Spending time building settlements in a country whose leader's dream of making Israel "a nation like all others" is largely a waste of time.

The right wing in Israel is mostly young, very idealistic, religiously connected and totally leaderless.

In other words, the real -- and only -- issue at hand is: LEADERSHIP OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL!!!

For years we spoke about settling the land (and did!) yet ignored the fact that we built ghettos for ourselves, blocking out the rest of the country.

For years we pushed hard for representation in the Knesset for what was good for us, caring little about anyone else's needs.

For years we saw our country's educational and cultural systems crumble yet we hid our face.

While we claimed to love Israel, we actually only loved ourselves choosing to constantly speak to people who look and think like we do.

And worst of all; during this time of focusing on our needs, our communities and our children we allowed the country to be run by people we wouldn't buy used cars from!

We never fought for the leadership of the country... only leadership of our settlements.

We never cared what the army looked like, as long as our Hesder and Nachal Haredi units were clean.

We never cared that boys -- and girls -- in Tel Aviv got more tattoos than kids in New York as long as our kids never came home with one.

How fast were we to condemn those Jews who supported the Expulsion Plan. "Don't you have any compassion" we said? Yet, where was our compassion? For the last 55 years what did we do to help them? We knew that running the Jewish State according to secular values was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode yet all we pushed for was funding for our programs.

Had we cared about our brothers and sisters we would have worked night and day at grabbing away the reigns of leadership from the Ben Gurions, Rabins, Netanyahus and Sharons of the world and led Israel ourselves. We would have worked hard at making peace between Jews, regardless of observance levels, and would have made Israel a united Jewish country.

This is where we must now put all of our energy. 100% of our attention and every drop of our blood must be poured into leading the Nation based on authentic Jewish values. The flag we must wave is one of Jewish Identity -- on a national level -- and not just settlements or anti-disengagement.

The people of Israel are waiting for this kind of leadership. They want Israel to become a Jewish State as long as it is done through love and not coercion. They are tired of single-minded politicians who have no vision, other than "survival". This leadership must come from Emunah (faith) and must be led by people who are deeply connected to their Father in Heaven.

This is what Moshe Feiglin and Manhigut Yehudit have been talking about since day one; Leadership of the entire Jewish nation with a platform that makes one proud to be Jewish!

Jewish education for every child in Israel

An economy that pushes Jewish labor and solves the horrific poverty and unemployment

An IDF that crushes terror and evicts the real enemy without worrying about world opinion

The immediate annexation of all lands liberated in 1967

A volunteer only IDF which -- FINALLY -- solves the vicious 55 year Haredi vs. secular Jew argument over who serves in the army

The implementation of the biggest Aliyah program in history supported by government funds designed to bring every Jew home!

These are just some of the examples of what can -- and must -- be done when your desire is to lead the entire nation and not just your little shtetl. It is a process that began several years ago when Moshe Feiglin entered Israel's leadership party, the Likud, with the desire and bold goal of leading that party and ultimately the entire Jewish people.

What can one do with the leadership of Likud? Just take a close look at the last two weeks. Prime Minister Sharon used that job for evil purposes but all is not lost! We have the power to replace his leadership and reprogram the army and police. We can redirect the energy of those young men and women seen crying into smiling faces and proud Jews. The key is to attain leadership.

Every moment of our time must now be focused on that goal.
